This is a fine and rare large stand, probably intended for the display of an important vase, ceramic plate or bowl. The design is simple and architectural, with a top and bottom circle that are attached with a series of curved, mitred struts. Unusually for a round piece, all of the members are of square section, adding a sense of linear elegance and solidity to the piece.
